In Ljubljana, you’ll wander through the Central Market, where fruit and vegetables sit beside fresh bread, and the scent of sweet baked goods drifts between the stalls. At Plitviče, emerald-green and dark-blue lakes lie among dense forest, with water cascading over moss-covered tufa into the rippling pools below. In Sarajevo, you’ll enter the Tunnel of Hope, a passage about a metre wide and 1.6 metres high, dug beneath the airport during the siege, where narrow rails once carried people and vital supplies.
